Younger Black Men Abandoning Democratic Party--Several Reflections
The discussion, by Black men, about how younger Black men are trending toward Donald Trump was the addressed in both a September 19 Newsweek opinion piece and a YouTube discussion. Podcaster Jeff Charles wrote in Newsweek, "Black men, especially younger ones, feel their economic problems, such as stagnant wages and the rising cost of living, are not being addressed. The NAACP poll showed that 82 percent of Black men under 50 indicated that economic concerns' were "at the top of the list of important issues—double that of the number overall."
Black men, especially younger ones, are moving away from the democratic party, and toward President Trump.
On an Oct. 2 YouTube discussion, a 37 year-old Black professional in strategic communications outlined how he has voted and will vote for Trump, even though, professionally, he has worked for Democrats. He reported that more and more of his younger friends are leaning toward Trump and, then, he had a fascinating back and forth with an older Black participant, explaining that older Blacks are "out of touch" with what is happening with younger Black men.

On September 29, Black Women & Black Men NOT for Harris, a coalition dedicated to bringing awareness to the problematic promotion of Kamala Harris, held an agenda-driven and focused discussion on the variety of pros and cons regarding the Harris-Walz ticket. It was a professional, respectful, and responsible dialogue between socio-political thinkers from the Black community in the United States.
Harris is losing ground among Black women and men
Although they are not endorsing any candidate, they are making clear that many Black men and women are against the policies of Kamala Harris. This is part of a broad trend we are seeing, where so-called traditional Democrat Party constituencies are breaking away, with some going with Trump and others withholding their votes.
