In our last report, we briefly touched on the possibility of extending the human lifespan. In this video, Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte of Altos Labs discusses the work that his company has been doing to reverse aging and various diseases in mice. They have found that a key difference between young cells and aged or diseased cells is the condition of the chromatin that surrounds DNA. In young and healthy cells, the chromatin exists in a "closed state." In diseased and aged cells, much of the chromatin is in an "open state." He claims that by giving quick dosages of 4 proteins to the aged cells, they have been able to change the open state to the closed state and reverse aging and other diseases in mice. They have also been able to apply their technique to animal organs which had been rejected as candidates for transplants; and have been able to revive the organs, implant them, and get healthy mice with the rejuvenated transplanted organs. You might yet beat the insurance actuaries!
In October 11, 2024, Astro Mechanica, an American startup, first fired up their new Electric Adaptive Engine (shown in the first video) which promises to increase supersonic jet range and efficiency by 60% in comparison with the Concorde and its engines. Instead of using a single shaft running through the entire engine, this new design generates electricity from the turbine at the rear to power electric motors at the intake which are thereby able to electrically regulate the turbofan speed according to the best speed efficiency for every increase or decrease of the speed of the incoming air (or speed of the vehicle in flight). Older jet engines have optimal speed regimes—they are either efficient at high or low speeds, but not at both. This engine promises high efficiency at any speed of flight up far past Mach 1. The second video and the article discuss the principles and how they would be applied to a 2-stage spaceplane design.
Following the successful fifth Starship/Superheavy flight test last month, the brilliant catch of its Superheavy booster by the SpaceX mechanical chopstick arms, and the nearly perfect landing of the Starship, SpaceX has announced that its next flight will likely take place on November 18. SpaceX has posted details of the upcoming flight test on its website. The flight will feature new heatshield upgrades, updated software controls, and a Raptor engine relight in space.

This is a good review of the 8 Chinese companies working on building reusable rockets. They are following the SpaceX model very closely, and even aim at deploying 28,000 communications satellites of a Starlink-type system. The channel is based in France and its 2 founders have spent a combined total of 20 years in China, so they have good connections there. It also makes clear how the deliberate sabotage of American enterprise kills our industry. Slowing deployment of American technology, allows the imitators time to catch up and take over markets before the American industries have been allowed to really get going.
